The origin of The Doubt of the Benefit is a summary of my beliefs:
1. Life is too long to do what you do not love to do - to be doing on a daily basis things that are not your Unique Ability.
2. I do not believe we are created to strive toward comfort - to "retire" in the definition of our society's definition of retirement.... which basically means we strive to quit our vocation, so once we get to a certain birthdate, we quit what we have been trained on or worked toward for over 2,000 hours a year and then just - quit.
3. I believe our purpose is to serve one another, to help one another, to contribute to one another.
4. I do not believe the social welfare programs of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. will be able to sustain (last any real length of time).... they will go broke. - thus the name: Doubt of the Benefit.....
The challenge is this myth of retirement penetrates so many parts of our culture, and so many people "believe it".... or should I say, believe in it.... and I suspect they will be sorely disappointed botth financially as well as emotionally....
I just do not believe our purpose in life is to work for ____ years, then quit, "retire", move to Arizona, play golf, play gin, drink gin, and (sorry to be so blunt) bitch about the homeowners association...
I think there is much more to life that quitting....
What do you think?
